Hello Everyone!

I am excited to write our very post in 2A!  We have already been very busy learning many things in such a short amount of time.  In Literacy, we have taken our LEAD 21 group placement test.  We took the test over a few days since it is very long.  This test will help me place the students in guided reading groups.

We have been working on reading strategies, practicing and reviewing the routines of the Daily 5, and working on building our stamina!  The students have been very determined to have stamina and have almost made it to 20 minutes already!  WOW! Quite impressive!  We have been working on the routines of read to self and work on writing.  This week we plan to add working on words!  The students were given their first spelling list last Friday.  We will begin working on these words during word works this week.  It would be great if you could practice them at home too.  The spelling test for this list will be on Friday, September 5.  Here is the list in case you can't find your child's list.  They will put these in their BEE folders in the weekly spelling list pocket every week.

Here are some pictures of working on writing and reading to self:

WORK ON WRITING

READ TO SELF

In math, we have been working on reviewing time, money, number grid, addition, and counting skills.  We have started our math journals and have played many math games.  We will be starting math group time at the end of next week.

MATH GAMES

MATH JOURNALS!

MATH GAMES

APPLE ID'S:

If you have not made an apple id for your student, please do so tomorrow or Wednesday.  They will be handing out the ipads soon, and if your child does not have an id, they will not receive an ipad.  If you do not have one, please call the school and the tech department will gladly help you!

SPELLING CITY AND READING EGGS

We do have a school site license for both of these websites.  These are great resources to access at home for your child either on a home ipad or home computer!  I will be sending home the user name and password for these in the next couple of days!

BEE FOLDERS:
A big thank you to everyone that is bringing their BEE folders back everyday.  Please remember that your child does have reading homework everyday.  However, they need to bring the reading log paper and book back and signed every day to get credit on their responsible reader chart.

3-HOUR EARLY DISMISSALS:
Please make sure you fill out the form on what your child does on early dismissal days!

HOLIDAY PARTY FUND:
Please remember to donate $4 towards our classroom holiday fund.  This will help to buy supplies for three parties in our class.

WELLNESS DAY:
The students will have a wellness assembly on Friday from 1:15 -3:15.

DONATIONS NEEDED:
I have been asked by a few parents wondering if there's anything we need in the classroom.  We will need Clorox wipes and extra page protectors soon.  THANKS  for your help!

It has been  a WONDERFUL start to a new school year!  I am really enjoying your children and look forward to a year of learning and fun!

Mrs. Tuchek
